Life at Camp

How will my camper be assigned to a cabin?

Campers are assigned to cabins based solely on age. All cabins are gender-inclusive and have a single-stall bathroom and shower to ensure privacy.

How are discussions about religion and tough subjects handled?

Camp Quest North encourages campers to discuss sensitive topics in an age-appropriate way. We encourage campers to challenge each other's ideas while treating each other with respect at the same time.

How will my camper’s privacy be maintained in the cabin/lodging buildings?

Counselors will support camper privacy through clear communication of expectations regarding changing of clothing to be done in private areas (such as a private bathroom or private shower area offered in each lodging building). Each cabin group will have discussions about ways to make everyone feel comfortable in the space during their first night of camp. We have found these conversations to be great ways to help our campers learn concepts of respect, privacy, consent, and personal space.

What about showers and bathrooms?

Each cabin at our Minnesota camp has a private shower and private toilet. Our Iowa campus also provides access to bathrooms that are single occupancy or can be made single occupancy through thoughtful scheduling. Other restrooms on site will have signage indicating that they are gender inclusive. We will ensure that wastebaskets are available in each restroom for the use of hygiene products.

Can my camper be in a cabin with their friends?

While cabins will be assigned based upon age, we will make an attempt to honor requests to be placed in the same cabin. Roommate requests can be made as a part of the registration process. Most of our activities are not divided by cabin, so there will be ample opportunity for each camper to spend time with their friends, even if they are not in the same cabin.

What is Camp Quest North's policy on behavior and discipline?

Camp Quest North aims to use restorative justice principles to help campers find resolution to conflicts. Counselors provide clear and consistent expectations regarding behavior. If your camper has a behavior concern, there will be a section to let us know during the registration process. We may also implement behavior contracts and goals if a camper needs extra support.

How does Camp Quest North handle communicable illnesses?

Camp Quest North requires all Minnesota state recommended vaccinations as well as the most recent Covid-19 vaccine for all counselors and campers. A health screening will be conducted upon arrival to check for symptoms and exposure to communicable illnesses. If your camper presents symptoms of a communicable illness at camp you may be asked to pick them up from the camp session.
